India's internationally benchmarked FMCS launched

India's internationally benchmarked Forest Management Certification Standard (FMCS) was launched on Saturday with an aim to bring a shift towards responsible utilisation of natural resources and trade of<br/>forest products. <br/><br/>The standard provides flexibility in addressing variability in forests and biodiversity and providing legality mechanisms to forest products. It also ensures responsible trade both from buyer side and supplier side among others.<br/><br/>Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF) in association with the ministries of environment, agriculture, commerce and industry, textiles and leading industry bodies and companies launched the standard.<br/><br/>NCCF, established in 2015, is a non-profit organisation addresses concerns for sustainable management of forests and plantations while making the Indian wood and forest fiber based industry globally competent.
