India's International Master N Srinath and Woman FIDE Master Ivana Maria Furtadao have won the Boys and Girls titles respectively in Asian Junior Chess Championships at Tashkent in Uzbekistan yesterday. A Tamil Nadu Chess Association release in Chennai said Srinath, hailing from Tamil Nadu, emerged as the new champion when he drew his ninth and final round game against International Master Vakhidov Jahongir of Uzbekistan. Srinath won the title with a tally of eight points. By winning the event, the Indian also earned his maiden Grandmaster norm. In the Girls section, Woman FIDE Master Ivana Maria Furtado of Goa won the title with seven and a half points. Woman Fide Master Rucha Pujari of Maharashtra collected the bronze in the event. Both Rucha Pujari and Woman International Master Vo Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam, who got the Silver, were awarded the medals on account of tie-break score of six and a half points each.
