India's humanitarian food assistance to DPR Korea amounting to 1 million US dollars has arrived in that country. According to an official release, India's Ambassador to DPR Korea Mr. Pratap Singh travelled to the North Korean port of Nampo recently to witness the off-loading of 900 metric tons of soya beans and 373 tons of wheat. This has been made available by India, especially for women and children in DPRK, through the World Food Programme (WFP). Mr. Singh said that he was very happy to see the safe arrival of the food consignment which is needed so urgently there. WFP Country Director for DPRK Claudia von Roehl said that WFP is enormously grateful to the Government and people of India for this contribution which comes at a critical time for the people they are helping there in DPRK.
