In cricket, India's all hope to play the inaugural World Test Championship final at Lord's against New Zeland is now hanging on the result of the fourth and last test with England scheduled from March 4 in Ahmedabad. Though India is at the top of the World Test Championship Table with 71 points percentage, anything but defeat in the fourth test will set the math right for India.
Having lost the third test, England have slipped to 64.1 points percentage and stands no chance to play the World Test Championship final. If England manages to level the series by defeating India, New Zealand will meet Australia in the final.
Meanwhile, reacting sharply against the controversy surrounding Ahmedabad's Motera pitch, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has termed the surface used for the third Test as brilliant. Lyon even said that he would like the Motera curator to work at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Speaking to Cricket dot com Australia, Lyon said that when Australia plays on seaming wickets around the world and gets bowled out for 47 or 60, nobody ever says anything about the pitch. The spinner said that as soon as it starts spinning, everyone in the world seems to start crying about it. Lyon said that the third test that finished within two days was entertaining.
Former England cricketers Andrew Strauss, Alastair Cook, Michael Vaughan and David Lloyd have blasted the Motera pitch with current captain Joe Root saying that it's for the ICC to take a decision on the pitch.
