<span style="color: #222222;">India's forest cover has witnessed an overall increase of 1,540 square kilometres at the national level. This was stated by Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today while quoting India State of Forest Report (ISFR)-2021. This increase is in comparison to the previous assessment of ISFR-2019.<br />''<br />''Mr. Yadav said the forest cover has increased by five thousand 516 square kilometres in the country during the last two forest cover assessments. He said, the forest cover in Rajasthan is 16 thousand 655 square kilometers showing an increase of 25 square kilometres as compared to ISFR-2019.<br />''<br />''The Minister added that various schemes are being implemented by the Central and State Government for increase in forest and tree cover in the country. These include the Centre's National Afforestation Programme and Green India Mission.</span><br />
