The External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna has said that India’s engagement with Pakistan will depend on its response to New Delhi’s core concerns on terrorism. He however said that talking to a country in no way dilutes India’s position. <br/><br/>In a suo moto statement in Lok Sabha on the talks between the Foreign Secretaries of the two countries in New Delhi yesterday, Mr. Krishna said that the resumption of composite dialogue will have to await the restoration of greater trust and confidence. He said however that India should not shut the door on dialogue with Pakistan.<br/><br/>He said that such a dialogue if it gathers momentum holds tremendous potential for the progress and the well being of the people in the region. <br/><br/>He also said that the invitation to the Pakistan Foreign Secretary for talks should be seen in the context of government’s desire to address core concerns on terrorism directed against India from Pakistan as well as the pending humanitarian issues. <br/><br/>The statement by Mr. Krishna was laid on the table immediately after the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee completed his speech.<br/>
