India's Direct Tax collections up to 10th January stand at 86.68 percent for 2022-23

The provisional figures of Direct Tax collections up to 10th January continue to register steady growth. Gross collections are at 14.71 lakh crore rupees which is 24.58 percent higher than the gross collections for the corresponding period of last year. Direct Tax collection stands at 12.31 lakh crore rupees which is 19.55 percent higher than the net collections for the corresponding period of last year. This collection is 86.68 percent of the total Budget Estimates of Direct Taxes for 2022-23.

Refunds amounting to 2.40 lakh crore rupees have been issued from 1st April last year to 10th January this year. This is 58.74 percent higher than refunds issued during the same period in the preceding year.
