India's Defence Procurement Policy to be launched online

India's Defence Procurement Policy (DPP) will be launched online during Defence Expo beginning tomorrow in Goa, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said. In an interview to PTI, he said, the policy will be put on the Defence Ministry's website.<br/><br/>Mr. Parrikar is going to inaugurate the ninth edition of the Defence Expo tomorrow at Naqueri Quitol in Quepem Taluka of South Goa. He said, the expo's current edition is one of the most important events in the field of production, exports and Indianisation of the sector.<br/><br/>The Expo has received registration from 1053 companies from 47 countries. It includes major defence production countries like Russia, United States, Germany, Italy, Japan, Israel. They will vie each other to display their warfare ware in their stalls and demonstrate the capabilities of their defence equipments. The first three days will be devoted to defence equipment business and limited to the delegates while the exhibition will be open for the people on the fourth day Thursday.<br/><br/>Apart from massive participation by the major public and private sector companies in India, Defence Research and Development Organisation will be participating in a big way. DRDO's participation in this event is marked with the live demo of Airborne Early Warning & Control System, Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, Arjun Main Battle Tank, Wheeled Armoured Platform AKASH, Air Defence System, Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher, state of art Radars, and other equipments.<br/><br/>On the first day tomorrow, the expo will also host a number of seminars on warship building and maritime research. It will also have a seminar devoted to the "Advanced Technologies in Submarine Construction.

The website said, Def Expo India is clearly steering the path of steady growth.<br/><br/>It has been receiving overwhelming and unprecedented international response with each edition, the website noted. Many countries like USA, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Republic of Korea and UAE amongst others have confirmed their participation for the event.<br/><br/>The mega-event will be held at Naqueri-Betul village in South Goa.
