After a hectic meeting with the Sports Ministry and Sports Authority of India officials Walsh decided to withdraw his resignation, much to the relief of the country's hockey fraternity. The 60-year-old Australian has been assured that his concerns will be addressed in a fresh contract. Walsh's withdrawal of the resignation was announced by the Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal via twitter. He expressed happiness saying he will look ahead for a bright future for hockey in India.
