In Badminton, India's campaign ended at the Sudirman Cup Badminton tournament at Qingdao in China. India, who advanced to the knock-out stage of this prestigious tournament after 22 years, suffered a 1-3 thrashing at the hands of rampaging China on Thursday.Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas lost to their higher-ranked Chinese opponent in the first rubber of the quarter-finals, giving China an early lead. Top Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal then helped India to bounce back. She defeated the world number three Xin Wang in straight games 21-15, 21-11. Locked 1-1, Commonwealth Games Bronze medalist P Kashyap took the court against world number three Lin Dan but failed to match the class of the Beijing Olympics Gold medalist. Kashyap lost 14-21, 14-21. Commonwealth Games Gold medalists Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa were also lost as the World Number one pair of Xiaoli Wang and Yang Yu defeated them with ease. The Indian duo went down 8-21, 13-21 to bring down the curtains on the Indian campaign.
