India's agriculture exports touch historic high of 50 billion in 2021-22, says Commerce and Industry Ministry

<span style="color: #222222;">India's agriculture exports has touched a historic high of 50 billion US dollar in 2021-22. According to Commerce and Industry Ministry, this is the highest level ever achieved in agriculture exports. The growth rate is remarkable as it is over and above the growth of around 41 billion dollars, achieved in 2020-21.<br />'' <br />''Our correspondent reports that COVID-19 has resulted in increased demand for staples, providing an opportunity for increasing agriculture exports. During the current crisis due to Russia-Ukraine war, the world is looking at India for supplies of wheat and other food grains.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that highest ever exports have been achieved for staples like rice, wheat, sugar and other cereals. Wheat has recorded an unprecedented growth of more than 273 percent, jumping nearly four-fold from 568 million dollars in 2020-21 to around two thousand 119 million dollars in 2021-22. <br />''<br />''The increase in exports of these products has benefitted farmers in states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. India has captured nearly 50 percent of the world's market for rice. The achievement over the past two years in Agriculture export will go a long way in realizing the Prime Minister's vision of improving farmers' income.</span><br />
