India's 70th I-Daycelebrations: Kathak recital organized in Colombo

A Kathak recital was organized in Colombo last evening as part of 70th Independence day celebrations of India. Finance minister of Sri Lanka Ravi Karunanayke was the chief guest on the occasion. Indian High Commissioner YK Sinha and other senior officials along with a huge participation of Indian and Sri Lankan community enjoyed the performance by renowned Kathak dancer Pragati Sood Anand and her ensemble. In his opening remarks, Mr. Karunanayke said that India is not only its closest neighbor but also a friendly nation with close cultural ties.<br/><br/>Indian High Commissioner, in his welcome address, said that the 70th Independence day gives us an opportunity to introspect what we have achieved in these years and what all need to be done in years to come.<br/>The programme was organized with the support of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka.<br/>
