Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt wins, advanced to pre-quarterfinals

At the London Olympics, India’s wrestler Yogeshwar dutt has entered the pre-quarterfinals by beating Anatolie Guidea 3-1 of Bulgaria in the first round of Men’s 60 kg Free style wrestling.

In Athletics, in Men’s 50 km race walk event, India’s Basanta Bahadur Rana bowed out after finishing at the 36th position. He completed the 50 km race in 3 hours 56 minutes and 48 seconds which is a new national record. Sergey Kirdyapkin of Russia clinched the gold in the event by completing the race in 3 hours, 35 minutes and 59 seconds, a new Olympic record.

Earlier in the day, In men's hockey, India finished last at 12th position after they lost 2-3 against South Africa in the playoff match.

The United States lead the medals table with a haul of 41 Gold, 26 Silver and 27 Bronze. China hold the second spot with 37 Gold, 25 Silver and 19 Bronze. Britain are in the third place with 26 Gold, 15 Silver and 18 Bronze. With a tally of One Silver and Three Bronze medals, India are at the 52nd position tied with Slovakia and Mongolia.
