Indian women's hockey team has been whitewashed by New Zealand in the five match hockey series played in New Zealand. The eves went down 2-6 to the hosts in the final match, which concluded at Hamilton today. The Black Sticks were untroubled from the start and were leading 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw India make strong amends, earning a Penalty Corner in the 22nd minute which Deep Grace Ekka converted to earn India's first goal of the match. However, New Zealand earned the third goal in the 27th minute. India began the third quarter with positive intent, and their determination paid off when they earned a PC in the 33rd minute. Skipper Rani converted the PC to narrow down India's goal difference to 2-3. However, with three goals scored in a span of four minutes, New Zealand took a formidable 6-2 lead at the end of the third quarter. India showed resilience in the final 15 minutes, but they could not convert chances into goal.
