Indian women finish 5th at World Team Squash

India have ended their impressive campaign in the WSF Women's World Team Squash Championship with a best-ever fifth place finish.On the final day of the event at the La Parnasse Arena in Nimes, France, 10th seeded India registered an upset victory over seventh-seed Ireland in the second meeting between the two teams in five days. India won 2-1.Joshana Chinappa put India in the driving seat by beating Aisling Blake. But Irish champion Madeline Perry levelled the scores by gaining a revenge win over Indian number one, Dipika Pallikal. However, 18-year old Anaka Alankamony clinched victory for India when she defeated experienced Laura Mylotte 11-8 11-7 11-8 in the decider.India's national coach Cyrus Poncha has said that finishing Fifth in the world is an unbelievable achievement. In the final, second seeds Egypt recovered from a match down to upset favourites England. In the play-off for third place, Malaysia beat Australia to win the bronze medal.
