Out-of-form Yuvraj Singh was today dropped, while young Saurashtra batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was selected in the 15-member Indian squad for the two-Test series against Australia, starting in Mohali on October 1. The second Test is slated to begin in Bangalore on October 9.The team for the Tests was announced by BCCI Secretary N. Srinivasan in Chennai today after a meeting of the National Selection Committee headed by its Chairman Krish Srikkanth. Pujara is the lone new face in the team. Alongwith left-hander Yuvraj singh, who had a forgettable tour of Sri Lanka, speedsters Abhimanyu Mithun and Munaf Patel have been left of the squad to be led by M.S. Dhoni. As expected paceman Zaheer Khan, who was not picked for the Sri Lanka tour in July due to a shoulder injury, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who missed the third Test in Sri Lanka due to fitness issues, and S. Sreesanth have returned to the squad. Selection committee chairman Krish Srikkanth said the criteria for selecting the team was performance and fitness. The Selectors, however, named Yuvraj as a captain captain for the 'Rest of India' team which will take on Ranji champions Mumbai for the Irani Cup from October 1.
