The Indian Tennis Team selection committee has announced the tennis team for the London Olympics. The Committee cleared the names of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi for the men's tennis doubles. The Chairman of Selection Committee Anil Dhupar informed media persons in Bangalore today that their names were selected based on the medal prospects rather than players' preferences. The All India Tennis Association Secretary General Anil K Khanna said the selectors weighed medal winning possibilities and selected the best team to represent India during the Olympics games. The selectors have also decided to seek wild card for Sania Mirza for either singles or women's doubles with Rushmi Chakravarthy. A wild card request will also be made for Somdev Devvarman for men's singles as he was in the mock entry list ofJune 2011.
