Five Indian students bagged three gold medals and two Silver Medals at the 42nd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) which concluded at Bangkok in Thailand on Monday. Dr Vijay Singh, National coordinator of the Science Olympiad told PTI on Monday that about 400 bright students from 84 countries participated in the International Physics Olympiad. They included five students from India, who secured medals. All the five meritorious students were trained for over a month at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). India also bagged two gold, one silver and one bronze medal in the 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) which concluded on Monday at Ankara in Turkey. The gold medal winners are Dravyansh Sharma from Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Diptarka Hait from Kolkata (West Bengal). According to Singh Indian students were also successful in winning four silver medals, to their kitty, in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) which concluded on Sunday at Taipei (Chinese Taipei).
