Indian squad for Australia tour announced; MS Dhoni to skip first Test

Indian Cricket Board, BCCI today announced a 19 member squad for the upcoming Australia tour. BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel said in a statement in Mumbai after a meeting of the selection committee that batsman K L Rahul and leg-spinner Karn Sharma have been included in the team. He said, Suresh Raina has staged a comeback into the Test fold while wicket keeper-batsman Naman Ojha also found a place in the squad. Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha continued to be on the sidelines. Patel said, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ruled out of the first Test in Brisbane beginning on December 4 owing to an injury. He said, Virat Kohli will lead India in the first Test and Dhoni will join the team from the second Test onward. The selectors also announced the team for the last two ODIs against Sri Lanka to be held in Kolkata on November 13 and Ranchi on November 16. Injured pacer Ishant Sharma has been left out of the ODI team for the last two matches with his place going to Vinay Kumar.
