The new Science and Technology Innovation Policy 2013 will be announced by the Prime Minister at the Centenary Session of the Indian Science Congress in Kolkata today. Dr. Manmohan Singh will handover the first copy of the new policy to the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The President will inaugurate the five-day long Congress. Our correspondent reports that Prime Minister’s Doctoral Research Fellowships instituted to commemorate the Centenary Session will be announced besides; special Postage Stamp will be released at the inaugural function. After the inaugural programme the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will chair a panel discussion on ‘Science for Shaping the future of India’. The other member of the panel includes Dr. R.Chidambaram, Dr. M.S.Swaminathan and Dr. John Beddington. The Union Science & Technology Minster Mr. S. Jaipal Reddy will inaugurate the ‘Pride of India’ Exhibition. It will focus on prominent developments, major achievements and the significant contributions of Indian Science & Technology to the society. Around 11 thousand delegates across the globe including Six Nobel laureates are coming to Kolkata to join the centenary session of the Indian Science Congress. In fact this will be a confluence of new ideas, innovations and products covering the entries canvas of scientific world.
