Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has said Indian Railways is working towards 'Zero Accident' Mission. On concerns about passenger safety and security, Mr Prabhu said, safety performance of the Railways is being reviewed. <br/><br/>In an interview to AIR, the Minister said talks are on with stakeholders to use technology in track fracture detection and track laying. The Minister said, Rail Development Authority will be set up soon and the Cabinet has approved it. He said it will not only do fare fixation but also set up efficiency parameters for the Rail Ministry. He also emphasized on increasing current speed of trains. He added that trials for 160/200 kilometre per hour train sets were carried out which will improve average speed of passenger carrying trains and reduce journey time. <br/><br/>Giving details on National Rail Plan 2030, Mr Prabhu said it will be prepared in consultation with state governments, public representatives and other relevant ministries for harmonious and integrated development of rail network. Speaking of other initiatives taken by his Ministry, Mr Prabhu said e-catering facility has been launched at 250 stations where passengers can order meals of their own choice.
