President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today reviewed the dryland farming in Aleppo in Syria. Indian Scientists are working here in agriculture sector in dryland farming. They are working on an area which is over one thousand acres. Earlier, India has favoured exploring a long term arrangement on phosphates with Syria to give a boost to its economic ties. It has also expressed interest in setting up power projects in the West Asian nation. In her discussions with the Syrian Prime Minister Naji Al-Otri in Damascus last night , President Patil suggested to him that a long term bilateral arrangement is needed when he sought Indian participation in phosphates and manufacturing of phosphate based fertilisers especially phosphoric acid.Minister of state for power Bharatsingh Solanki conveyed India's interest in the power sector in Syria and said that PSUs like NTPC and Power Grid could be potential participants. The two sides also agreed that there should be more high-level ministerial contacts to keep up the momentum of the enhanced engagement.
