Indian Navy is fully prepared to handle any emergent situation that may challenge our country's maritime security. This was stated by Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command today.<br/><br/>Addressing a press conference on board the INS Vikramaditya, Vice Admiral Luthra said the Western Naval Command is maintaining enhanced state of readiness in order to face any contingency post the Uri attack. <br/><br/>He informed that an operational exercise called 'Exercise Paschim Lehar' was conducted last month wherein a large number of ships and submarines participated along with the elements of Indian Air Force and Coast Guard. He added that the bi-annual coastal security exercise 'Sagar Kavach' was also conducted this year.<br/> <br/>Vice Admiral Luthra further informed that Navy is also providing training to Marine Police personnel from the coastal states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka while air and sea surveillance is being carried out on a daily basis to strengthen coastal security. While replying to a question about security of defence assets in view of the Uri and Nagrota attacks, Vice Admiral Luthra said the Navy is ensuring air and land surveillance as well physical security of all the assets.<br/> <br/>As part of the Navy Week celebrations, Vice Admiral Luthra listed out events like harbour cruise, half marathon and air show for differently abled that are being conducted to increase contact between people and defence agencies.
