The Indian Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Nirmal Verma called on the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday at Temple Trees in Colombo to discuss the strengthening of ties between the Navies of the two countries.<br/>Discussions covered modernization of the Kankasanthurai Harbour and related research with the assistance of the Indian Navy. They also focused on holding training programmes for Sri Lankan and Indian Navy officers and sailors. <br/>The two sides decided to undertake a feasibility study on a shipping service between Colombo and Tuticorin ports and a boat service between Talaimannar and Rameswaran. <br/>
