The Indian men's team is staying in contention for a podium finish at the 41st Chess Olympiad. In the 10th and penultimate round of the event at Tromso, Norway, Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran recorded a 48-move win against Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu which helped India beat Germany by Two and a half-points to One-and a half points . The victory, combined with draws in three other games, not only raised visions of a best-ever Indian finish but has also set the tone for what could be the first ever Olympiad medal for India. With just one round to go, the Indian men hold a joint third spot. India will next meet Uzbekistan -a very beatable team – in the final round. China, meanwhile, accounted for overnight joint leader France to regain the sole lead with 17 points.
