Indian Men's Hockey team begin campaign in Olympics in short while

The Indian Men's Hockey team begin their campaign in the London Olympics in a short while from now. The team will take on formidable Holland in their opening encounter. While the men in Orange are ranked third in the world, India are ranked 10th. Hockey is being played on the blue turf and the Indian team trained on the turf for the past three months. They even played at this venue a month back in a four-nation tournament. The turf has now settled down and should see a fast and furious game of hockey.Meanwhile world champions launched their Olympic campaign today with a thumping 6-0 victory over South Africa in Pool A. Captain Jamie Dwyer scored a hat-trick. Dwyer's three strikes helped him equal the Australian record of 179 international goals held by Mark Hager, who is coach of the New Zealand team at these Olympics.Asian Games winners South Korea earlier held off a late New Zealand charge to post a 2-0 win in Pool B.
