Indian Men & Women's Teams advance to Round 3 of Hockey World League

Both the Indian Men's and Women's teams, won their fifth and final round-robin matches and progressed to the third round of Hockey World League of the Hockey World League Round-2 last night. In the matches played at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi, Indian Men defeated Bangladesh 5-1, while the Indian Eves defeated Russia 1-0. It was an emphatic finish by Indian men who won one all of their matches in the round 2 of the league. In the earlier match, Rani Rampal scored the all-important winner for India in the 51st minute. She also became the highest goal scorer in the League's Round 2. Apart from India, Japan also qualified for the third round of the Hero Hockey World League, a qualifying tournament for next year's FIH World Cup in Hague, The Netherlands. Both India and Japan had equal points but India finished at top due to more outright victories.
