Indian Men & Women Teams reach finals for Olympics qualifiers

Both Men's and Women's hockey teams have entered the finals of the London Olympics Qualifiers.In the Men's section, India beat Poland 4-2 to enter the final at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.Already assured of a place in the summit clash, favourites India had to sweat it out to keep their unbeaten run in the final round-robin match.Both India and Poland were evenly poised each scoring one goal, till the half time.Sandeep Singh once again starred for India, converting two penalty corners to take his personal goal-tally in the tournament to 11. Apart from Sandeep, experienced striker Shivendra Singh and VR Raghunath scored the other goals for India.Eighteenth ranked France clash with India in the final on Sunday.In the Women's section, India beat Italy one-nil to enter the final. The winning goal for India was scored by Ritu Rani in the 55th minute of the play at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi yesterday. India will clash with South Africa in the final today.In other matches for women, Ukraine beat Poland by 1-nil and South Africa defeated Canada, 4-1.
