Five Indians including 22 hostages held on the Ship MV Iceberg 1by the Somali pirates who have been freed in a daring rescue operation off the Somali coast are likely to fly back from Somalia by Friday. Somalia’s Puntland Maritime Protection Force, PMPF Director Mohammed Abdirahman said that the freed hostages were being provided medical aid at the military base. They would be taken to the commercial city of Boasao in Puntland where they can meet Indian authorities and the representatives from the respective countries.
The PMPF Chief said that the fighting with the Somali pirates lasted for nearly two weeks while the hijacked ship MVIceberg 1 was docked in the Mudung region. He said that three pirates were killed while three were arrested in the operations. Four others managed to escape and a search was on to nab them.
