In the London Olympics today, Indian hopes rest with the wrestlers as two grapplers take the field. Narsingh Pancham Yadav will figure in the men's 75 kilogram freestyle while Amit Kumar Dahiya will compete in the men's 55 kilogram freestyle category.
Indian fans will be hoping for a good show from the grapplers after India had a disappointing day on thursday.
India's lone woman wrestler Geeta Phogat's campaign came to an end when she was defeated in the women's freestyle 55 kg repechage round two. In Track and Field, India's Tintu Luka failed in her bid to enter the finals of the women's 800 metres while high jumper Sahana Kumari also made her departure from the Games.
The United States of America have now overtaken China to the lead medals table. At the end of 13th day of competitions yesterday, the United States had a haul of 39 Gold, 25 Silver and 26 Bronze. China were in the second place with 37 Gold, 24 Silver and 19 Bronze.
Hosts Great Britain retain the third position with 25 Gold, 13 Silver and 14 Bronze. With 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals, India and Slovakia jointly hold the 48th spot. There are 17 Gold Medals on offer at the Games today.
