Indian High Commission organises exhibition of rare photographs of Mahatma Gandhi in Dhaka

On the ocassion of the 147 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian High Commission organised an exhibition of rare photographs of the Father of the Nation at the new Chancery in Baridhara, Dhaka. <br/><br/>Titled 'Life & Times of Mahatma Gandhi', the exhibits touch upon his early days, his stay in South Africa where he conceptualised and first used the satyagraha strategy, and his leadership of the non-violent struggle for India's Independence. <br/> <br/>The exhibition features 2 very rare photographs of Gandhiji's visit to Nokhali, now in Bangladesh, in 1946. <br/>Prime Minister Modi's inauguration of the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi was also telecast live at the Baridhara complex. <br/><br/>The function was attended by a host of Indian community members. Talking on the ocassion, Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla said the exhibition will be soon shifted to a place where it is more accessible to the public.
