Indian Forest (Amendment) Bill, 2017 introduced in Lok Sabha

The Indian Forest (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was introduced in the Lok Sabha yesterday. The proposed legislation will put an end to the need for getting inter-state permit to transport bamboo. As Environment and Forest Minister Harsh Vardhan stood up to introduce the Bill, Bhartruhari Mahtab of BJD raised objections. <br/><br/>He said the government is protecting interests of the trader and the not the farmers. However, Dr Harsh Vardhan denied it saying the apprehensions are grossly misplaced. The Minister said this is one of the major reforms which is going to help farmers and everyone in a big way. <br/><br/>The other bills introduced by the government amid the uproar include National Council for Teacher Education (Amendment) Bill, Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, Dentists (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
