Indian film industry and government recognize and endorse the potential of culture at the highest level: Anurag Thakur

<span style="color: #222222;">Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said that the Indian film industry and government recognize and endorse the potential of culture at the highest level. Addressing the valedictory function of the two-day National Seminar on Indian Cinema and Soft Power organized in Mumbai, Mr. Thakur in a video recorded message said that depiction of one's culture is a very strong component of any country's soft power. He said, rapid liberalization, deregulation, privatization of media has transformed the film industry in India since the past few decades. He highlighted that Indian cinema emerged as notable examples of global entertainment; emanating from outside the western world.<br />''<br />''The Minister said, the capacities of nations to make themselves attractive in a global marketplace has become an important aspect of contemporary international relations. He underlined that Indian cinema is watched by audiences from across the world.<br />''<br />''Mr. Thakur also said, that Indian cinema, which is one of the world's largest film factories in terms of production and viewership, is not only limited to Hindi movies and observed that even the regional films have an equally vast audience, nationally as well as globally.  <br />''<br />''The Minister expressed delightment on the collaboration of Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Flame University for jointly conducting the National Seminar on Indian Cinema and Soft Power.  The two-day seminar brought together practitioners and scholars of Indian Cinema and International relations to deliberate upon one of the important cultural components.</span><br />
