The Indian fencers have managed to raise funds to take part in the Asian Junior and Cadet Championships in Thailand to be held from Saturday. However, they will participate in the event under the Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) banner. This is the first time in Indian sports that fencers will be playing under a foreign banner. This situation has arisen due to the Indian fencers having been disallowed to take part in the Asian event under the national flag following ban imposed on India by International Olympic Committee in December last. International Fencing Federation (FIE) had suspended Fencing Association of India (FAI) soon after the IOC decision. The fencers were, however, allowed to take part in the Asian event under the foreign banner.
