The Indian High Commissioner in Australia Ms. Sujata Singh is coming to New Delhi on 16th of this month to apprise the leadership of the steps taken by the Australian government for the safety and security of Indians, particularly students there. <br/><br/>She will also brief the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna and other leaders about the impact of the steps taken by the Australian government. <br/><br/>Sources in External Affairs Ministry said that the routine consultations between the Indian envoy in Australia and the leadership assume importance in the wake of promises made by the Australian Foreign Minister to Indian counterpart on the sidelines of a meeting on Afghanistan held in London. <br/><br/>The Australian Foreign Minister had assured Mr. S.M. Krishna that a Committee will be formed to look into the issue of the violence against Indian students. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the consultations assume importance in the wake of forthcoming Budget Session of Parliament where the violence against Indians in Australia is likely to be at the centre of discussions. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, Australian police alleged on Wednesday that the Indian man, who said he was attacked and set ablaze by assailants in Melbourne, had falsely reported the incident for claiming insurance.<br/>According to media reports Jaspreet Singh, a resident of North Melbourne north, on Wednesday faced an out-of-sessions hearing before a bail justice at St Kilda Road police complex. He was charged with making a false report to police and criminal damage with a view to gaining a financial advantage.
