Indian Embassy in UAE revises minimum wages for workers

The Embassy of India in United Arab Emirates has revised the minimum wages for various categories of Indian workers employed in the United Arab Emirates. Indian Ambassador to the UAE, MK Lokesh told this in a news conference in Dubai on Wednesday. He said that it has become effective from 15th of this month. According to new rates, the increase ranges from 40 to 50 per cent in the minimum wage for 36 categories of skilled and unskilled Indian workers who want to work in the UAE. The increased minimum wages are applicable to new recruits from India. The Ambassador also informed that the Indian passports and visa application submission services at the Indian Passport and Visa Service Centers (IPAVS) across the UAE will be available at a reduced fee from April 6. The services, which are outsourced across the UAE will now be managed by BLS International. A website, available at www.ipavsc.com, has been set up to provide information on the various services offered and for checking the status of applications. A dedicated Call Centre, available at 600 522229, also has been set up to answer telephone queries and inform applicants of the status of their applications.
