Indian cricket team to participate in ICC Champions Trophy

The Indian cricket team will participate in next month's Champions Trophy after the BCCI gave its all clear to the move in a Special General Meeting, SGM, in New Delhi today. The Board announced that the squad for the eight-team event, starting from 1st of next month 1 in England, will be picked tomorrow. The ICC welcomed the decision from the BCCI to confirm the participation of defending champions India. An ICC official said hundreds of millions of cricket fans around the world just want to see good cricket and now, all can look forward to a superb event in England and Wales. It was also decided at the SGM that no legal recourse will be taken against the ICC as per the diktat of the Committee Of Administrators (COA). Earlier, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators had lashed out at BCCI for missing 25th April deadline to select Indian squad for upcoming Champions Trophy. It had instructed the BCCI to immediately announce the Indian squad for the event. It had said, delay in team selection is portraying Indian cricket and cricketers in negative light.
