Indian Consulate in Dubai begins probe on US firing on fishermen

Indian Consulate in Dubai has begun a probe into the firing incident by a US Navy vessel of UAE coast. One fisherman was killed and three others injured into the incident. Indian Ambassador in UAE M.K.Lokesh told our Dubai Correspondent that the Embassy is in touch with the UAE authorities and pushing the case to bring the guilty to book.

UAE authorities have informed that a case has been registered against the US ship and investigations are on. The External Affairs Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna said that his Ministry is in constant touch with Indian Embassy in US and UAE in connection with the unfortunate incident.

Disputing the US claims on the firing incident, the three eye witnesses who were wounded in the incident said there were no warnings by the US ship. The condition of all them is stable. They have been admitted in a hospital. Indian Embassy in UAE is now focussing on providing assistance to the family of the deceased and take care of three injured fishermen.

Meanwhile, the US 5th Fleet Spokesman, Lt. Greg Raelson said internal inquiry is still on so he cannot make any comments about whether the identification of the craft as a fishing boat made the threat cited by the Navy less likely.US has regretted the incident.
