The Indian community in Sri Lanka celebrated the 71st  Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. They gathered in large numbers at India House in Colombo where main function was held. High Commissioner Taranjeet Singh Sandhu unfurled the tricolor followed by the singing of national anthem. <br />'' <br />'' A contingent of Border Security Force turned out in their ceremonial dress to stage march past while a troupe of Sri Lankan navy played musical rendition. <br />'' <br />'' The High Commissioner read out the message from the President of India. Artists of the Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre presented a programme of traditional Indian dance and music.<br />'' <br />'' Later the officials of the Indian High Commission paid floral tribute at the Indian Peace Keeping Force memorial for the soldiers who had laid down their lives during the Sri Lankan Civil War.<br />'' <br />'' Similar programmes were organized by Indian consulates in Kandy, Jaffna and Hambantota. The high commission had organized a special cultural event "Divine Quartets" last evening in Colombo featuring legendary Mohan Veena maestro and Grammy award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt along with Tabla maestro Pandit Subhen Chaterjee.<br />'' <br />'' Indian high commission is hosting a reception for dignitaries this evening to mark the occasion. <br />''
