Indian community in Dhaka celebrates 71st Independence day

The Indian community in Dhaka celebrated the 71st Independence day today with traditional patriotism and fervour. <br/><br/>The function was organised by the Indian High Commission in the New Chancery in Baridhara area of the capital, and was attended by an enthusiastic expatriate crowd.. <br/><br/>Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Sringla unfurled the national flag and read out the message of the President of India. In his brief address to the gathering, he said each one of us should re-dedicate ourselves to the ideals of the freedom struggle, and exhorted the youth to be inspired by the values of the freedom fighters. <br/><br/>A cultural programme showcasing Indian values like unity in diversity was put up by the expatriate children. <br/><br/>A dance-drama focussing on Janmashtami was also part of the cultural programme. Bangladesh has a huge Indian community who attend the Independence Day function every year with huge national pride and patriotism.
