Indian Coast Guard apprehended ten Sri Lankan fishermen and detained their two fishing boats for poaching in Indian waters today. The Lankan fishermen were handed over to Coastal Security Group marine police of Nagapattinam. Meanwhile Indian fishermen in Nagai Rameswaram Pudukottai continued their strike condemning the killing of Rameswaram fisherman by Sri Lankan Navy.<br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that Indian Coast Guard arrested ten Sri Lankan fishermen for fishing in Kodiakarai Sea crossing into Indian waters. Indian Coast Guard Ship Arnvesh during surveillance also detained two Sri Lankan fishing boats. The boats alongwith ten fishermen were then handed over to Nagai Coastal Security Group Marine Police. The fishermen are from Trincomalee in Sri Lanka. They will be brought before Nagai court . <br/><br/>Meanwhile fishermen from Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Thoothukudi resorted to strike for the second day today condemning the killing of Rameswaram fisherman by Sri Lankan Navy. The relatives of Rameswaram fisherman Britjo are still refusing to receive the body demanding assurance from central government to find a lasting solution to the issue. The local fishermen urged the immediate release of 85 fellow fishermen languishing in Lankan jail and 128 fishing boats detained by Lanka.
