Indian cinema witnessing paradigm shift, say film makers

Young Film makers today opined that the Indian cinema is witnessing a huge paradigm shift and changes in commercial cinema have paved the way to an independent thought. They were interacting with the media at the ongoing 43rd India International film festival at Panaji, in Goa today. AIR correspondent has more details .

Veteran sound designer Mr. Resul Pookutti ,Director Gouri Shinde , film maker Aishwarya Dhanush and Onir emphasized the need to reach the independent cinema to a larger audience. Gouri Shinde shared her experience about the making of her debut film English -Vinglsh. Mr. Onir elaborated challenges before independent cinema. Ms. Aishwarys Dhanesh shared the making of popular song KOLAWAR DI. These filmmakers were optimistic about the new technology and emergence of multiplexes in the cinema business. However, they expressed their apprehensions about single screen theaters which are fading away nowadays. In the meanwhile in a chai and chat programme the IFFI brought together luminaries like Mr. Dhritiman Chatergee, Kabir Bedi, Vinay Pathak and Pravin Sing Sisodia to talk on theater and cinema in India. This interactive experience provided an essential out look of cinema as medium and open new vistas for a greater understanding of Indian Cinema.
