Indian benchmark indices ended the week with losses of over a percent

Indian benchmark indices ended the week with losses of over a percent amid escalating tensions between Israel and Palestine and the subsequent rise in oil prices.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 885 points, or 1.3 per cent during the week ended, to end at 65,398. The Nifty slipped 208 points, or 1.1 percent, to 19,543. In the broader market, the BSE Mid-cap Index declined 1.3 percent and the Small-cap index ended flat.

At the forex market, the rupee appreciated 14 paise during the week to end at 83.12 against the dollar.
