Indian Army on Wednesday said a misinformation campaign is being run against it by vested interests, some of which is being initiated from bordering countries. In its advisory, the Army said it has been noticed that material printed on letterheads of Defence Ministry or branches of Army Headquarters are being circulated attached to social media messages. <br/><br/>Some of these letters have been found to be false. It said that at times, even vintage photographs are being circulated to depict recent incidents.<br/><br/>A number of tweets, Facebook posts, WhatsApp messages and blogs by veterans and some serving officers using these documents and photographs are being circulated in various social media groups. <br/><br/>The advisory said, veterans and army officers should approach Army headquarters to verify the correctness of information or material before they make any comment on issues that directly affect the Service. However this does not mean that veterans have no right of healthy criticism.
