In Jammu and Kashmir, the 121 Infantry Brigade of Indian Army organized a free Medical Camp at village Budgam of Kargil which hardly one KM away from the LOC.A village of 150 hamlets people of Budgam has to travel a steep mountain of some 15 Km to reach to the main road for transportation and due to which they have to face lot of problems.The main aim of organizing such camp is to provide medical check up to the local populace before the onset of the winter season and to provide requisite medicine to the patients, Commander 121 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Shami Raj expressed. Such Camp helps to extent medical facilities to the remote villages which are difficult to get too easily.Brigadier Shami Raj said that to uplift the local income generation of the unemployed youths, Indian Army will look into Trout Fish Farming Project which will help in the development of the village and other such initiatives are there in the pipeline.He further added that Indian Army always tries to provide all basic facilities to the local population and this camp is one of such initiative which will be carried out in the future also.Appreciating the steps of Indian Army one of the locals Haji Mohammad told that it’s Indian Army who provides vehicle to ferry their patients in case of emergency and any kind of help they needed. The medical camp by Army was a very thoughtful gesture & came as a welcome relief for all the villagers, he added.The Sarpanch of the Village Ghulam Mustafa appreciated this genuine gesture of concern and welfare by the Army and urged for more such medical camps in future.Aiming at the basic medical problems of all the sections of society, along with the specialist doctors from Military Hospital Kargil, lady doctor from the Army hospital also attended the Camp by walking upto the villages covering a distance of three KM.The villagers were not only treated for their medical problems but also educated on the importance on the personal hygiene and preventive health care, by the Doctors. This tradition of regular medical camp for the welfare of the residents of valley has gone a long way to further strengthen the good relations between the JAWAN aur AWAM.
