Indian Army equipped to face any challenges: Army Chief

Army Chief General V. K. Singh has asserted that Indian Army is equipped to face any challenges.

Speaking to media persons after the 122nd Passing out Parade of the National Defence Academy in Pune on Wednesday, the General said bringing in transparency and gearing up the Army for future were the two objectives he had set for himself.

However, he said that this task needs more time to accomplish and a definite progress has begun in this direction.

While stressing that the army is apolitical, absolutely secular and impartial General Singh dismissed reports of misunderstanding between him and the Government, he said Defence Minister A K Antony fully supports the armed forces.

The General asserted that the Army is part of the government and whatever it says, is listened to.

He also said that it is a proud moment for him to receive the Guard of Honor on the last serving day at NDA where he was trained 46 years ago. The General retires on Thursday.
