In Jammu and Kashmir infantry day is being celebrated today. Various functions are being held to pay homage to the Jawans of Indian Army who gave supreme sacrifice while defending the territorial integrity of the country.It was on this day in 1947 that Indian Army had landed in Kashmir in the wake of raid by Pakistani tribal forces. Meanwhile State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that the move of removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from few areas in the state is not aimed at undermining armed forces. He said army is essentially playing a major role in the anti militancy operations in the state.In a statement Omer Abdullah has said that the impression being created that State government and Army are working on a divergent path is not correct. He said even the process of removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from certain areas is done in close coordination and consultation with army and other paramilitary forces.
