An Indian-American oncologist, Sanjay Goel has won a Four and half lakh US dollars award for his unique patient-oriented approach to colorectal cancer research. A researcher at the Montefiore Medical Centre and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Goel has been presented with the award at a function in Chicago. He is one of three recipients of the award, which is presented annually to physicians who have five to 10 years of experience and are full-time faculty members in a clinical setting at an academic medical centre. The award is instituted by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
