US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Ajit Pai has come under a severe attack of several Indian-American lawmakers for his proposal to repeal the Obama-era net neutrality policy. His proposal would give big Internet providers like Comcast and Verizon broad powers to determine which website should reach out to subscribers faster than others. <br/><br/>The controversial proposal triggered a war of words between Mr Pai and first-term Indian-American Congressman from Silicon Valley Ro Khanna. Mr Khanna said the FCC is giving major corporations "even more control over the media. Senator Kamala Harris said more than 7 lakh Californians have already submitted comments in response to the FCC's proposal. <br/><br/>Ms Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu lawmaker said that the FCC must fulfil their responsibility to all Americans, not just big Internet Service Providers. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal said with the dismantling of net neutrality rules, the competition among new streaming services and content providers will be severely damaged. Mr Pai's proposal is scheduled to come out to vote before the FCC on December 14.
