Indian aid worker kidnapped in Afghanistan

An Indian aid-worker belonging to an International NGO was kidnapped by some unknown persons in western Herat province of Afghanistan yesterday.

He was abducted by a group of gunmen while he was visiting a school in connection with his work in Zenda Jan district adjoining Herat.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. The local police has launched a search operation for the kidnapped worker.

External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Sayed Akbaruddin has said that the matter has been taken up with the concerned authorities in Afghanistan.
